Mediation in the Workplace

Conflict at work?

Resolve your dispute

Restore and maintain work relationships using Mediation

Mediation is a successful, confidential process that is used for resolving workplace disputes. Your mediator acts as a neutral third party to facilitate and manage the flexible process to help you reach a point where mutual agreements can be made. Adapting to your needs, mediation will help to introduce new ways of thinking and will focus on solving problems. Over 90% of mediations settle with a written agreement.

"Dawn has a calm, approachable and confident manner, she can quickly build relationships to gain understanding of situations and is calm under pressure. Dawn has experience in various sectors giving her a broad understanding of workplace cultures and environments. I would recommend Lakeland Mediation Solutions to any workplace that needs an experienced mediator to bring a positive outcome to a challenging situation."

01

Saves time

Conflict is worrying, disruptive and time consuming. Mediation sessions can be arranged quickly, within days if necessary. Most mediation sessions are completed within a day.

02

Cost benefit

Settling issues quickly will avoid direct and indirect costs. Mediation is a cost effective dispute method.

03

Mediation works with you

Mediation can work with your organisational processes as an alternative to grievance and disciplinary procedures. It poses little risk to the parties who engage in the process and is without prejudice.

04

Open communication

People in conflict avoid communicating. Mediation opens up direct communication, from both sides, for the current dispute and with a future focus on positive working relationships.

05

Retain control

Parties know the details of the dispute better than anyone and are therefore in the best place to resolve it. Parties remain in control of the settlement. The Mediator does not impose it.

06

Long lasting positive effect

The mediation process can help to build relationships and help to create a less stressful, more productive environment.

 When to consider Workplace Mediation?

Workplace Mediation

How does it work?

Adapted to your needs, the process will involve the following:

  • Your mediator is briefed on the dispute

  • Pre-mediation discussions will take place

  • A Mediation Agreement is signed - Mediation is a voluntary process and each party must agree to take part.

  • Confidential, individual meetings take place with the mediator to identify the key issues.

  • A confidential, joint mediation meeting is then planned with the parties.

  • The settlement is agreed upon in writing and is signed by the participants.

  • The Mediator will follow up the agreement at an agreed time interval.

Workplace Mediation

  • When relationships between managers and team members are challenging.

  • As a first step towards resolving disputes, before grievance.

  • When there are behaviour clashes.

  • When there are concerns about attitude or issues of communication.
